Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd

What can you and your family do to help take care of our planet? Take some time this week to talk with your child about simple things that can be done to REUSE, RENEW, REPURPOSE, RECYCLE, conserve and care for our planet.

This week, we will be discussing water conservation, sorting recyclable items and repurposing objects and containers in the home. We will also get outside, weather permitting, and tidy up our school yard. A favourite book that I like to share, Pattie Pitter, She Hates Litter! will be read to encourage students to dispose of their litter responsibly.

Pizza Day
Friday, March 9

If you had ordered pizza for your child using Cash On-Line for this past Friday (March 2), your order will be carried over to this Friday. If you are sending money in with your child to cover the cost of pizza for this Friday, please do so on Thursday, March 8. Our bus to Agape Valley will be leaving the school at 9:00AM, so pizza orders will need to be placed the day before considering the time restrictions we will encounter Friday morning. Thanks.

This Friday, March 2nd, our Colour House Day theme has been changed from Beach Day to Olympic Spirit Day. Come to school dressed to celebrate the Winter Olympics. We hope to fill the school with a sea of red and white. Go, Canada! Don't be afraid to create and wear either a gold, silver or bronze medal around your neck.

Prepare to Hibernate

On Friday, February 9th we will be hibernating in our classroom. We are currently learning about hibernation as part of our winter science investigation. We are encouraging you to send your child to school that morning in his/her pajamas and bathrobe. You may also want to pack slippers in his/her backpack, too. Label all clothing items, please. As the temperatures are bitterly cold outside, you may wish to layer your child for added warmth. Children may also bring their favourite stuffed animal to enjoy throughout the day. As an added part of the day, we would ask that your child bring a small stuffed animal to leave in our ‘hibernation den’ throughout the rest of the winter season. On the first day of spring, these animals will ‘wake up’ and have a celebration before coming back home with your child. Throughout the day we will also be enjoying some hibernation activities and playing some special games. A healthy hibernation treat will be served later in the day.

Thank you in advance for participating and making our Hibernation Day a success.
