Heartland Forest

We had a wonderful day at Heartland Forest today. We arrived at the main pavilion and were instructed where to put our backpacks and gear. We then went into the main teaching area and learned about coyotes. Following a short PowerPoint presentation and a snack, we were divided into four groups and led to four separate teaching areas where students had opportunities to learn about pond life, frogs, wildlife in a wetland habitat and tour the Heartland treehouse. We came back to the main pavilion for some lunch. We finished the day with a scavenger hunt, a train ride and a few minutes of play on the playground.
Many thanks to all of the parent volunteers who joined us for the day. Your help was greatly appreciated. The children had many positive things to say about their day once we were back in the classroom.
