Parnall 'Me-to-We' Fund Raiser

Over the next several weeks, Parnall School's Me-to-We Club is conducting a fundraising event to earn money for the purpose of aiding families in third world countries. Each classroom has been assigned a monetary goal with the hope of purchasing an animal or some necessity to aid the receiving family in some way. Our classroom has been assigned a goal of $50.00 to purchase a goat for a needy family. Contributions have already begun to pour in. To date, we have $15.00 collected from families and teachers. As our donations come in, they will be graphed on a board which is displayed in the classroom. We hope that you can support us in this very worthy cause. If you do wish to make a donation, please enclose it in your child's ZIPPY BAG and clearly label it 'Me-to-We.' Thanks so much for your help. 

It Was a 'Flippin' Good Day'!

Today is Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Tuesday. This is a special day that dates back many centuries. Historically, this day allowed households to use up all of the fat and 'goodies' before entering into the forty day Lenten fasting season. Here at Parnall School, the kindergarten children feasted on all the pancakes they could eat, along with juice, syrup, fresh strawberries and freshly cut bananas. Take a look...

There were many happy tummies and smiling faces by the end of our celebration. Thanks so much to our parent volunteer who fried the majority of our several hundred pancakes. And a big 'SHOUT OUT' goes to the students in Mrs. Watson and Mr. Waldie's classes for setting up the gymnasium, serving pancakes and fruit, cutting up pancakes for our youngest kinders, pouring syrup, and helping in every way to ensure that the event moved smoothly. You were AMAZING!!!

February is for Friendship

February is upon us and the children wasted no time in churning out some wonderful friendship bracelets for themselves and each other. Who needs a loom? Some kinders were designing right on their fingers. We're designing fun jewellery AND developing excellent fine motor skills all that the same time. Bring it on, boys and girls!

Foam blocks and a little imagination allow children to have hands-on experiences with 3-dimensional figures. The possibilities are endless!

Valentine Exchange Party

On Friday, February 13th, the students in K-1 will be having a Valentine Exchange Party in the morning. Your child has been given a class list of student names and teachers that work with him/her throughout the week. If you wish for your child to participate in this activity, please have him/her bring in Valentines to share with the class on that morning. If you wish to contribute a treat for our morning party, that would be great. Please remember that Parnall School is a 'Nut-Free' school. Thanks so much.

Kindergarten Open House

On Thursday, February 5th from 10:00AM until 6:00PM, families of Junior Kindergarten children entering school in September of 2015 are welcome to come in to meet the kindergarten teachers and have a tour of the facility. Families will receive a bag containing information about school start-up, a book for your child and a t-shirt for him/her to wear. If you are new to Parnall School in the fall, we hope to see you there.
