OUR FINAL PIZZA DAY

This Friday, June 27th, marks our last day of the school year AND our final Pizza Day. Pizza will be sold for $1.00 per slice on that day.
SK Graduation

On Friday, June 27th at 9:30 AM, parents are invited to gather on the back playground for our Senior Kindergarten Graduation. Please bring lawn chairs and, of course, a camera. Students will 'slide' into Grade One and receive a graduation certificate. Hope to see you there!

In the event of rain, the graduation ceremony will be held in the gymnasium.
Thursday Picnic

On Thursday, June 26th, students have been asked to bring an old, dark coloured towel from home to spread as a blanket outside for a midday picnic. Students and teachers will enjoy their lunches outside and the towels will be used to provide children with a comfortable place to sit on the lawn. Pack a regular lunch for your child that day. Following the picnic, students will be treated to a dish of ice cream for dessert. There is NO COST for this event.
Multicultural Lunch
 Wednesday, June 25th

On June 25th at 1:00 PM, ELP students will be treated to a Multicultural Lunch Tasting in the gymnasium. Various parents have donated their time and culinary talents to provide a variety of ethnic foods which the ELP children will have an opportunity to sample as they eat their lunches. Each classroom of children will also be involved in preparing a simple dish to contribute to the event. Students are to bring a regular lunch and snack as the foods provided will only be small portions for sampling. Because we are unsure whether children will like the foods which are being donated, pack a few 'lunchtime favourites' to ensure that nobody is disappointed and goes away hungry.

Check out our new Ocean Artifact provocation.

PASTA DAY TOMORROW!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (June 18th) is PASTA DAY in K-1. If you have not already done so, send $2.50 in with your child tomorrow morning and s/he will eat a piping hot pasta lunch consisting of penne pasta, meatballs, tomato sauce and a roll. Moneys earned in this fund raising event will go to pay for treats for Ice Cream Day and Bubble Day next week.  :o)
Tadpoles to Froglets

Excitement is brewing in K-1. We have been caring for over two dozen tadpoles for the past several weeks. What started out as very small tadpoles are now growing rapidly into some impressive little froglets.
Look closely. Can you see their legs emerging?
Heartland Forest

We had a wonderful day at Heartland Forest today. We arrived at the main pavilion and were instructed where to put our backpacks and gear. We then went into the main teaching area and learned about coyotes. Following a short PowerPoint presentation and a snack, we were divided into four groups and led to four separate teaching areas where students had opportunities to learn about pond life, frogs, wildlife in a wetland habitat and tour the Heartland treehouse. We came back to the main pavilion for some lunch. We finished the day with a scavenger hunt, a train ride and a few minutes of play on the playground.
Many thanks to all of the parent volunteers who joined us for the day. Your help was greatly appreciated. The children had many positive things to say about their day once we were back in the classroom.
